About

Esther developed an interest in art whilst at school and she is mainly self taught having started experimenting with mixed media (paint & texture ) in her 20's, never realising where it would take her!

Her work encapsulates light and form through her use of oils, glazes and textured knife work. This is an aspect of her work which is unusual and creates something that is very special, unique and tactile.

For twelve years, Esther lived on the North Devon coast and her love affair with that coastline began as a child when she spent many family holidays staying at Bucks Mills.

The rugged beauty of this area and the stunning beaches further round the coast towards Saunton, Croyde and Hartland, greatly influenced her work in the early years.

Esther now lives in the pretty coastal town of Budleigh Salterton and the outstanding, natural beauty of this area is now a new focus.

She is currently on a mission to walk the 630 miles of the South West Coastal Path, partly from the sheer joy of it, but also as an inspiration for paintings with its beauty, changing light and energy.

STUDIO 36  is her place to escape from her busy life, juggling work and family and to get lost in painting. It is tucked away in the corner of the main garden, peaceful and quiet, surrounded by trees, flowers and bird song.
